Great animal hospital & it smells good too! After using Big Country Vet on So 27th St, here in Abilene for a number of years, and finding out that Pete's teeth & gum & bone diseases did not happen since having his teeth cleaned in February 2015, I am throughly satisfied with Your services; even though you had to extract 30 teeth, while leaving only four. From this day forth, I will be using Windmill Animal Hospital with my other four mature Dachshunds & one Chihuahua. Pete seems to be making a speedy recovery, while taking his meds like a true Champ & eating ground food. He is even enjoying biscuits & Sharp Cheddar Cheese once again; and he is only three days "Post Op"!

Dr. Price has been an excellent caregiver. Her experience is apparent, and she has been thorough and caring throughout the process of assessing and treating our aging doggie. She explains proposed treatment and its purpose. Costs are discussed first, not coming as a surprise. She has been compassionate in discussing serious prospects. All the staff I've dealt with are well trained and efficient and cheerful. All those traits are much appreciated.

While I am happy about the excellent care received, I am not pleased in regards to two things. First, the actual charges for my visit were higher than what was quoted to my wife. But more importantly, I was not given back the Vetsulin for my pet. So last night, my dog did not get her insulin. Unacceptable.

Windmill Animal Hospital replied:

We are so sorry that your pet's veterinary visit wasn't up to our usual standards! Neglecting to return your pet's insulin to you at pickup is so frustrating, given how hard you've worked to get your pet regulated with her diabetes. In reviewing the timeline, your pet was checked out right after we'd received word one of our team members was in the emergency room at Hendricks?not an excuse, of course, but the news rattled all of us a bit. The estimate and invoice not matching was puzzling;we are very careful for accuracy on such things. The estimate was prepared by one of our less experienced front desk staff, and was not sufficiently accurate for the proposed veterinary care your pet was to receive. Fortunately, the difference between the two was not a large amount, but this is a red flag that further training is needed. Thank you for letting us know. We look forward to serving you and your pet in the future. Again, thank you for taking the time to let us know about these issues. They will be addressed!

The staff was very communicative about post op care and they called the next day to check on my dog. I was pleased with their service. My dog was back to his normal self the next day after his surgery.

I got Rin Tin Tin revolution that is wonderful!! I also got Raider groomed and everyone there greets you and also come out to pet Raider...........It is wonderful!! Thank you

Ditto had surgery and is recovering with no problems.( he might not agree. Went out for potty break while still drowsy and wind blew him over...lol)

Beware, they are among us....and some are disguised as veterinarians. I took Shorty to one vet in town, and was told that the pain he was having was from arthritis...My dog was given an injection and some pills, but he never had any relief (after 2 trips) Then I took him to Windmill Animal Hospital, and within 3 minutes of the examination Dr. Price discovered that Shorty had a bad tooth...Lots of difference between arthritis and a bad tooth! Yesterday, Dr. Price removed three bad teeth, and corrected another problem. Shorty is still a little sore today, but I think in another day or two he will be back to normal.
