I always have a great experience at Folawn's!

I had a mostly okay experience. Each service I received fell below expectations. I booked a day here bc it was my 40th birthday. I wanted to feel pampered, sexy and glamorous. I wanted to look amazing when I went out that night. No one complimented me.

The massage was more relaxation than deep tissue and not as therapeutic as I am used to. It was more of snuff and shine massage than restorative. Lots of rubbing and lotion but not a lot of deep tissue work or knowledge of stress points even though we discussed them ahead of time.

I like my haircut and color but the style fell flat within an hour and my makeup artist tried to fix it. I still didn't feel sexy snd glamorous which is what I wanted. The makeup took a long time because I wasn't happy with it.

I wanted a glam look and apparently Aveda makeup doesn't make anything with glimmer. I would have made an appt elsewhere for makeup if I'd known. I felt like I looked stupid with no eyeliner and bubble gum lipstick color that looked cheap. We dug into my makeup back for the right lipstick and eyeliner and blush. I should have saved $45 and done my own makeup. The makeup artist was very sympathetic to making me want to like the makeup so we messed around a long time with it and got it to a place I could walk out with it. But I didn't like it or feel pretty and confident. My pedicure was good but I wasn't expecting to pay $58 for that service.

I might be back for my hair but I'll have to think about. If the styling falls flat again I'll look for a new hairdresser as I just moved to San Antonio. All I wanted was to feel beautiful and sexy on the day I turned 40. I didn't. I went home and cried after leaving the salon.

Gabby did an excellent job!!!

This is the best Aveda salon in town. Not pretentious, just good! And Yvonne is the best. She's a good listener and a skilled professional.

I had a great experience at the salon and David did my hair exactly as asked. He has taught me so many things about my own hair because it is thick and curly. I now know the right styles for me and all the right products that work best for my hair. I appreciate his willingness in teaching me.

I called to book my hair cut and highlights on a Thursday and asked if I could come in the next day (Friday) or the following Monday. She asked if I could come in that day and I said I couldn't, but I could Friday, or Monday. She made it seem like an inconvenience that I couldn't come in right away and said she could squeeze me in on Friday. You either have an opening or you don't, right? Saying you'll squeeze me in doesn't make me feel like I'll be getting the stylists full time and attention.

Friday arrives and I receive a call 25 minutes before my appointment (just as I was leaving) asking if I could come in 15 minutes later so that the stylist would be able to make sure she would give me exactly what I wanted. How does me coming in later insure I get exactly what I want for my hair? Either way, I said it was not a problem and I arrived shortly before 1. The facility seemed nice and the lady at the front desk asked if I wanted anything to drink, which I appreciated. I proceeded to wait 20 minutes before my stylist, Samara, called me back, which was 45 minutes after my original appointment.

Samara was nice, asked what I wanted and we discussed doing balayage, then I said a haircut. She did the balayage and and gave me a nice arm and hand massage after adding toner and rincing my hair.

She then tells me that I wasn't scheduled for a haircut and asks if I could come back the next morning. Again, I understand, even though I have a nursing baby at home and getting out to get my hair done once is a feat, let alone twice.

Samara said we would have a little time the next day if i wanted to tweak the balayage a bit. When I came back the next morning she didn't say anything about the Balayage, didn't even ask if I liked it, she went straight to cutting my hair. It didn't take her long, 15 minutes maybe. She then proceeded to blow dry for the following 30 minutes or so. She really couldn't have cut my hair the day before??

So basically, I accommodated them while in return I had to pay for a full balayage that doesn't have the full effect because the light tip ends needed to be cut off, I paid for toner for long hair length instead of medium, and I had to make two separate trips to do all of that. I should mention that I have a nursing baby at home so getting out by myself once is a feat, let alone twice.

They were not very apologetic about the scheduling mix up (they kind of made it seem like it was my fault, when it definitely was not), they were not very apologetic about the delay either. Nothing was done to rectify the situation and I didn't feel like my time was valued.

I'm debating if I will go back or not, despite all the mix ups. Samara did a good job with my hair, but it would look much better if scheduling would have been done correctly and my hair would have been cut first.

David is the best with my hair and always works me in even when I constantly change times on him. The spa is clean and inviting and the staff always polite and welcoming.
