We recently moved to the area from out of town with our 5 pound toy Pomeranian and decided to try Snohomish Dog Spaw because of the good reviews. Despite having been groomed for years by various groomers at Petsmart with minimal (growling with noisy clippers next to face) to no issue, the gal claims our dog was overly aggressive and strongly suggested our dog be sedated for future grooming elsewhere and that we would not be welcome back. Groomed for years at Petsmart without issue vs coming here once and been told our dog should be sedated. Sounds like the groomer wasn't handling our dog in a manner that our dog was comfortable with. Just from the way she spoke, you can tell she was unwilling to accept this was out of the norm or that it could be the groomer or the environment. Even after telling her we moved from out of town, she asked why we were coming to a new groomer; from her tone she was suggesting we were not welcome back at the prior groomer.
Our dog is no angel, but she's not aggressive and suggesting sedation was very insulting given our dog has been seen by many groomers before.
For those reasons, we won't be recommending this establishment to others.
On a side note: The grooming itself, despite the apparent issues, turned out okay. Not Good. Not bad. Just okay.
I apologize that we are not able to groom your dog safely and that our groomer was upset about the situation when she talked to you. She should have been more diplomatic. Perhaps all of the recent changes in your pets life have affected her more than you realize. Changing grooming venues may have been too much for her. It is seldom that a pets behavior is we recomend that a pet be sedated for grooming.
We only suggest the use of sedation when a pet's behavior is dangerous to either themself or our staff. Perhaps changing back to a petsmart would be a wise choice for you. Even though it wouldn't be the same store it would be similar.
