My rating for Amanda my hygienist and Dr. Kralj's usual outstanding service, professionalism and fantastic sense of humor would be five stars, but overall for this visit, I could not rate the entire experience so highly.
The front reception area was not fully prepped for the day it seems first thing in the morning.
There were no drinks in the cooler (but instead a Brita pitcher on its side). I never partake of these beverages but always felt they were a wonderful offering especially on a hot summer day. Interestingly enough, there were also no coffee mugs on the counter when I arrived.
More importantly, the examination/dentist work light was out in the room I was in for my cleaning so I spent the entire hour under florescent lighting which I have to say reminded me of the sub par dental offices I've had the misfortune of visiting in strip malls earlier in my life. It might seem like a small detail but it was my understanding the light was broken for some time and not a new occurence. Ora Studio is known for it's spa like, calming, soothing atmosphere, sitting under florescent lighting is entirely contrary to that branding. And at least from a patient perspective, it seems a relatively easy repair to schedule and execute immediately. I'm not sure if this is a recent lack of administrative attention on managing the office or simply an anomaly in the maintenance schedule, but I sincerely hope that it is not a sign that the office is trending away from its former ambiance, and excellent attention to the details of the patient experience.
If that's the case, I might as well go to any random dentist about town rather than bother making the trek to the South Loop from where I live in the Loop. It has always been more than worth it in the past so here's hoping it continues to be.
